target=”_blank”

// juli 8th, 2005 // On the Web

Phranck made a rant about using targets in links and madsk obviously felt the same way.

Automatic popup windows are CRAP and we all know that, but opening an external link in a new browser window is an easy way of showing the user, that he is about to leave the site, while still providing an easy way to get back. That’s called usability. (= I don’t know how to use a browser so please help me)

Besides that I don’t really have anything to say about this, but if you read Danish you can checkout their sites.
(Clicking their names will open the link in a new browser window. Firefox users can CTRL click to open the link in a new tab)

      LOL – I love the end of you post … real U’ability ;-)

      But ofcourse we have clients who insist on “they window never changing” … thus every thing else must open in new windows. This is understandable, but as Phranck points out; This should no longer be nescesarry. The web has gone a long way, I it is time we insist on some level of “lowest denominator” somewhat above(!) the null-line!
